Lower Dolores Boating Advocates would like to invite you to the next installment of our boater education series. We are hosting an evening with our conservation partners to discuss collaborative efforts to improve ecological and whitewater recreation conditions below McPhee Reservoir. Please join us Monday, January 30th at the Dolores Community Center from 7:00-9:30 PM for a presentation by San Juan Citizens Alliance, Trout Unlimited, the Nature Conservancy and American Whitewater. Small group discussions will follow to address questions. Please stick around afterwards for a social hour with live music and beer from the Dolores River Brewery (bring your own cup). Numerous opportunities for you to be more involved in stewardship projects will also be explained.
All of the presenters serve on the Implementation Team of the Lower Dolores Working Group, which is developing new river management strategies to benefit three threatened native fish species in the lower Dolores. These new strategies may affect our whitewater boating season. Please join us to learn more and offer your input!
We could use your help to prepare for this meeting:
- come early to help with set up or stay afterwards for clean-up
- assist with facilitation of small group discussions
- join the beer crew
Please contact Jay if you would like to help with any of these assignments. Thanks! We look forward to seeing you on the 30th.
